ANZSCO code is Australia and New Zealand’s standard occupation classification system, forming the foundation of the entire skilled migration process. ANZSCO code is a 6-digit code that precisely identifies an occupation. This article explains it.
ANZSCO code là gì
ANZSCO code (Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations) is a 6-digit code classifying occupations in Australia and New Zealand in a hierarchical structure. The ANZSCO code is also used to identify the nominated occupation in Australian skilled migration categories.
The ANZSCO code has a hierarchical structure: Major Group (first digit, 1-8), Sub-major Group (2 digits), Minor Group (3 digits), Unit Group (4 digits), and finally Occupation (full 6 digits). Each occupation has a standard job description and specific skill requirements.
The importance of the ANZSCO code
The ANZSCO code determines many aspects of a migration application: whether the occupation is on a list (MLTSSL, STSOL, ROL, CSOL), which skills assessing authority applies, and the Skill Level (1-5), which affects qualification and experience requirements.
Skill Level breakdown: Level 1 usually requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher, or 5 years of experience or equivalent. Level 2 usually requires an AQF Diploma or AQF Associate Degree. Level 3 usually requires Certificate IV or Certificate III plus 3 years of experience.
Two versions of ANZSCO
There are currently two ANZSCO versions used for Australian skilled migration. ANZSCO 2013 is used for visas 189, 190 and 491 (under MLTSSL, STSOL, ROL). ANZSCO 2022 is used for the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL), which applies to visas 482 and 186.
Applicants must check the correct version corresponding to the visa they intend to apply for, on the Home Affairs or Jobs and Skills Australia website. The task description of the ANZSCO code must match actual work performed for the Skills Assessment to be approved.
You should refer to official Home Affairs website and Jobs and Skills Australia to check current conditions.
