The Core Skills Occupation List is the central occupation list that determines who is eligible to apply for an employer-sponsored skilled visa in Australia. This list took effect on December 7, 2024, replacing several separate older lists.
Core Skills Occupation List là gì
This is a unified list of about 456 eligible occupations for the Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482) and the Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) permanent residence pathway.
The Skills in Demand visa has replaced the old Temporary Skill Shortage visa (subclass 482), with a simpler mechanism that more closely tracks Australia’s actual labor market needs.
How the new consolidated list works
Previously, Australia maintained three separate lists at the same time for different visa streams. The Core Skills Occupation List merges them into one, making it easier for businesses and applicants to check.
Several new occupations have been added, such as early childhood teachers, beauty therapists and retail managers. Conversely, some occupations have been removed from the list compared to before.
Impact on skilled-stream applicants
Whether an occupation is on the list directly determines the ability to apply for a sponsored visa. You need to check whether your ANZSCO occupation code is on the current list before planning ahead.
Theo the Australian Department of Home Affairs, the list is reviewed periodically based on advice from Jobs and Skills Australia.

Determine your occupation code precisely and cross-check it against the current list, while also keeping an eye on upcoming reviews. The M2W team will update on changes to the occupation list so you can proactively choose the right pathway.
