Invitation to Apply Australia is the decisive step after submitting an EOI, opening the way to apply for a visa. Invitation to Apply Australia is valid for 60 days. This article explains it in detail.

Invitation to Apply Úc là gì

Invitation to Apply Australia (ITA) is an official invitation from Home Affairs (for visa 189) or from a state/territory (for visas 190 and 491) sent to eligible candidates after submitting an EOI. Only after receiving an ITA can a candidate submit a formal visa application.

An ITA confirms that a candidate has been invited to apply based on the information in their EOI. Candidates have 60 days from the date of receiving the ITA to submit a complete visa application along with the fee.

How ITA works

For visa 189: Home Affairs holds periodic invitation rounds. The system ranks EOIs by points and invites the highest-scoring candidates for each occupation. Each occupation has its own quota.

For visas 190 and 491: a state/territory sends a nomination, after which Home Affairs processes it and the candidate receives an ITA via SkillSelect. The process from nomination to ITA usually takes 1–4 weeks.

Important notes about ITA

After receiving an Invitation to Apply Australia, candidates have 60 days to submit a visa application. If not submitted within this period, the ITA expires and the candidate must wait for the next invitation round. The EOI can be reused if it is still valid.

Information declared in the visa application must match the EOI. If there are changes after submitting the EOI (for example, an improved English score), these must be updated before receiving the ITA. Once the ITA has been received, the EOI can no longer be edited. Regulations may be updated.

You should refer to official Home Affairs website and Home Affairs – Skilled visas to check current conditions.

Summary

Invitation to Apply Australia (ITA) is an official invitation issued after the EOI, from Home Affairs (189) or a state/territory (190/491). It is valid for 60 days to submit a visa application. For 189: periodic invitation rounds by points. For 190/491: via state/territory nomination then Home Affairs. Information in the visa application must match the EOI. The EOI cannot be edited after the ITA. If not submitted within 60 days, the ITA expires.
