What is the MLTSSL is basic knowledge for those interested in visas 189 and 190. What is the MLTSSL needs to be distinguished from the CSOL and other lists. This article explains it in detail.
MLTSSL là gì
What is the MLTSSL can be understood as the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List — Australia’s list of medium- and long-term skilled occupations. This is the list of occupations the Australian Government has identified as necessary for medium- and long-term labor market needs.
MLTSSL is the primary list applying to visa 189 (Skilled Independent) — only occupations on the MLTSSL are accepted. MLTSSL is also used (together with STSOL) for visa 190, and (together with STSOL, ROL) for visa 491.
Characteristics of the MLTSSL
MLTSSL includes occupations assessed as being in severe and long-term shortage in Australia. Characteristics of occupations on the MLTSSL: high skill requirements (mostly Skill Level 1, some Level 2), usually requiring a university degree or equivalent, with stable labor market demand.
Common occupations on the MLTSSL include: software engineer, civil engineer, mechanical engineer, registered nurse, secondary school teacher, electrician, plumber, accountant (general), medical doctor, and various senior management positions.
List updates
The MLTSSL is updated periodically by Australia’s Department of Home Affairs based on the National Occupation Shortage Report from Jobs and Skills Australia. Occupations may be added to or removed from the list each year.
Those interested in visas 189, 190, or 491 should check whether their occupation is on the current MLTSSL. The occupation must be on the MLTSSL at the time the ITA is received, not when the EOI is submitted. Regulations and the list may be updated.
You should refer to official Home Affairs website and Home Affairs – Skilled visas to check current conditions.
