Canberra, 01/07/2026 — Úc.

Australia’s Department of Home Affairs has raised the minimum income thresholds for sponsored skilled visas, applying to nomination applications submitted from 01/07/2026. The Core Skills threshold (CSIT) rises to 79.423 AUD and the Specialist Skills threshold (SSIT) rises to 146.576 AUD per year.

Detailed salary threshold figures from 1 July 2026

  • Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT): from 76,515 AUD to 79.423 AUD. Applies to Core Skills nominations for the Subclass 482 (Skills in Demand) visa and Employer Nomination Scheme nominations (ENS — Subclass 186).
  • Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT): from 141,210 AUD to 146.576 AUD. Applies to Specialist Skills nominations for the Subclass 482 visa.

The change only applies to nomination applications submitted from 1 July 2026. Nomination applications submitted before this date will continue to be assessed under the old thresholds. In addition, employers must still pay a salary no lower than the Annual Market Salary Rate (AMSR) if this rate is higher than the minimum threshold.

What this means for Vietnamese workers

For Vietnamese candidates seeking to work and settle in Australia through skilled migration, the higher thresholds mean a slightly higher minimum nominated salary. When choosing a job and occupation, it is important to ensure the offered salary meets or exceeds the relevant CSIT/SSIT, while also satisfying the position’s AMSR. This is a factor to account for right from the stage of choosing an employer and negotiating the contract.
