Subclass 494 is an employer-sponsored regional skilled visa for people working in regional areas of Australia. It is one of the clear pathways to work while progressing toward permanent residence.

Subclass 494 là gì

Subclass 494 (Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional – Provisional) is a temporary visa valid for 5 years. The visa holder works for a business in a regional area that has sponsored them.

Unlike the points-tested independent stream, here the employer’s sponsoring role is central.

Basic conditions

Theo the Australian Department of Home Affairs, you need a suitable occupation, nomination by a regional business, and a passing skills assessment plus English result.

Most cases require you to be under 45 at the time of application, except for exempt categories.

Khác gì 491 và 186

Compared with Subclass 491 which is based on state or family nomination, 494 is based on employer sponsorship. Compared with Subclass 186 which grants permanent residence immediately, 494 is a temporary step first.

Both 491 and 494 share the same end goal: a regional permanent residence visa.

Pathway to Permanent Residence

After living and working in a regional area for the required period, a 494 holder can apply for the Subclass 191 permanent residence visa. Living in a vùng regional is the core requirement.

You should discuss sponsorship plans with the business early. The M2W team will advise on the pathway from 494 to permanent residence.
